Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Surgery
Serving Denver, Aurora, Cherry Creek, and the Northern Colorado Area
Will I have scars afterwards?
Yes. All incisions leave scars, and all cosmetic surgery requires an incision of some kind, whether it’s done with a scalpel, a laser, or some other instrument. This is another topic that you can discuss with Dr. Serota during the planning stage. Depending on what procedure you’ll be having, the scar can be very well hidden, such as the facelift scars, which will be inside the hairline, and breast augmentation where the scars are hidden beneath the breast .
Scarring is an individual thing and not necessarily easy to predict. Some people heal quickly with small, faint scars, and others heal more slowly with larger, raised, and even red scars. If this turns out to be the case, there are several treatment options to improve the look of the scar. Scarring is also partly determined by heredity and racial background. If necessary, you can consult Dr. Serota about scar reduction surgery. Remember too, that it takes the best part of a year for a scar to fully subside and fade into its permanent appearance.
