Do I need to be put to sleep for the surgery?
Many procedures are performed under a local anesthetic. This is often supplemented with intravenous sedation administered by an anesthesiologist. For some procedures, patients are more comfortable with a general anesthetic (completely asleep). Your surgeon will discuss the various options with you and help you decide which is best.
