Serving Denver, Aurora, Cherry Creek, and the Northern Colorado Area

Anesthesia: General

Location: Surgery Center or Hospital

Surgery Length: 1-2 hours.

Length of stay: Outpatient - home the same day.

Discomfort: Mild. The pain is completely tolerable with the use of prescribed pain medication. Anticipate 1-3 days of this medication.

Numbness: Temporary numbness, if it occurs, can last 1-2 months.

Bandages: You are placed in a head dressing at the completion of surgery to promote healing. This bandage is removed 3-5 days after surgery.

Sutures: Two sets of sutures are used. One is permanent on the inside and not removed, the other is on the back of the ear and removed 10-14 days after surgery.

Work or School: Once the dressing is removed, you may return to work or school.

Exercise: Walking is always encouraged for the first 2 weeks, after which, your normal exercise regimen can be resumed.

Final Result: May be seen as soon as 2 weeks or as late as 6 months following the surgery. Sun protection is important in preserving your result. Always use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. Adhering to all instructions given by your surgeon is essential to the outcome of your surgery.
