Be Kissable This Winter!
Attention all men and women! Do you avoid kissing your loved one during the winter months for fear they may feel more like sandpaper than soft, supple lips? Don’t’ worry… dry, chapped, rough, peeling lips are treatable!
Colder weather means less moisture in the air outside, and the moisture zapping heater inside causes the moisture on your lips to evaporate much quicker than it would during the warmer months.
Follow these simple steps for a soft, full pout all winter long.
· Place a small amount of granulated sugar in the palm of your hand, add a couple drops of water and mix until it is a paste-like texture. Apply to your lips in a light, circular motion to exfoliate. Make sure not to apply too much pressure, which could over exfoliate and become irritated. Then rinse with cool water and immediately apply a moisturizing lip balm.
· If you do not wish to use sugar there is another option. Apply a coat of plain, unflavored yogurt to your lips and leave on for 2 minutes. Then take a baby toothbrush and softly rub your lips in small circular motions. Rinse with cool water and immediately apply a moisturizing lip balm. The lactic acid naturally found in yogurt gently softens and lifts dead skin and the soft toothbrush will gently remove the loose, dead skin from your lips giving you a soft and smooth pout.
Remember to reapply your lip balm throughout the day to prevent moisture loss. During the day it is very important to use a lip balm with at least SPF 15. Sun exposure on unprotected lips can also cause dryness and peeling. At night it is best to apply a generous amount of a repairing yet moisturizing lip balm to rejuvenate and heal while you sleep so you can wake up to soft and supple lips every morning.
Now you can stay kissable all year round!
